A Message from the Spiritual Director

Christmas greetings to each of you!

Christmas marks the end of one year and the beginning of another. It is a time to reflect back over 2009 and to plan forward into 2010. It is a time to insert ourselves into God’s plan for salvation.

The Theme for CFC for 2009 was “Forward in Christ”. In what ways have I/we moved forward in Christ? In what ways have we grown more into Christ so that like St. Paul I/we might say, “The life I live now is not my own; Christ is living in me. I still live my human life, but it is a life of faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me.” (Gal 2:19-20) Let us give thanks to God for progress made during this past year! Hopefully our activities of this past year—Assemblies, retreats, CLP’s, outreach, ANCOP activities – have helped us to move forward in Christ.

As we begin this new year in the Church, The Theme for 2010 moves us to awareness that you and I have the “Fullness of life in Christ”. This comes from the second chapter of the Letter to the Colossians.

The third chapter, titled “The Ideal Christian Life in the World” deals with mystical Death and Resurrection (vv 1-10), Renunciation of Vices (vv 5-11), The practice of Virtues (vv 12-17), the Christian Family (vv 18-21).

Chapter 4 gives us exhortations to prayer and an Apostolic Spirit. The latter is called for in our Mission in CFC. Each of us is call to be an Evangelizer. Chapter 4:vv 5-6 states: “Be prudent in dealing with outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your speech be always gracious and in good taste, and strive to properly to all who address you.”

Do you and I take time to reflect on what the fullness of life in Christ means as we live our daily lives as individuals, families, household units, church, and society?

I wish all God’s blessings to you and your families at this Christmas Season and a year of Fullness of Life in Christ in 2010.
