GK-Walk Pin Smashers play to defend 10-Pin Bowling Crown
By Hanny Consolacion
April 5, 2009 – The Gawad Kalinga (GK) Community Development Foundation, through ANswering the Cry Of the Poor (ANCOP) International Bermuda and Couples for Christ (CFC) Bermuda, was very well-represented in the recently concluded Filipino ten-pin bowling open, organized by a Filipino association in Bermuda -- Club 2000. In an effort to promote the GK-Walk fund-raising event on August 23, 2009, CFC Bermuda and ANCOP volunteers joined the bowling tournament under the banner of GK. The “GK-Walk Pin
Smashers”, headed by team captain Len Niere, got off to a good start -- smashing pins with balanced scoring and was looking in pretty good shape to defend their last year’s crown. The official results will be released by the organizers at a later date, but whether champions again or not, the Team was excited to have taken part in the tournament and was privileged to have represented GK and promoted the GK-Walk event slated this coming August.
The Team: “GK-Walk Pin Smashers” -- Len Niere (Team Captain), Renha Cañete, Jay Autor, Hanny Consolacion, and Viola Calderon who played in place of the pregnant Mrs. Lorelie Autor.
ANCOP International Bermuda and CFC Bermuda extend their special thanks to Evelou Mosley, Mot Saliba, Marife Bacasno, Concon Lopez, Cathy Visaya, and other GK delegates who have exerted extra efforts in marketing the GK-Walk event.
