Couples for Christ (CFC) Bermuda held the first ever women's overnight retreat on March 14-15, 2009 at the Willowbank Hotel and Resort in Sandy’s Parish with the theme "Victory Weekend". Twenty-six participants comprised of women from the Singles for Christ, Handmaids of the Lord and Couples for Christ participated in the retreat. The speakers from CFC Toronto were Sisters Marissa Nuguid and Malou Reyes who were assisted by the CFC Bermuda's Country Coordinator, Brother Frank Nuguid.
The retreat started early with Praise and Worship on Saturday, March 15th, followed by four talks in the following order: Overcoming Worry, Overcoming Temptation, Overcoming Loneliness and Guilt, Repentance and Healing. Group discussions were conducted after each talk, allowing participants to share their personal experiences or reflections on the topics. A Lord's Day Celebration was held before ending the evening with a fellowship activity where each discussion group performed brief presentations on an assigned topic.
Sunday, March 16th, was a half-day event, which also started with Praise and Worship. The topic of the last talk was Victory in Affliction. This was followed by open sharing from the participants on their personal experiences and reflections to the whole group. There were laughter and tears while different stories and experiences were being shared which strengthened the existing camaraderie among the women. The participants left the retreat with refreshed minds and renewed hearts.
The women of CFC Bermuda were very thankful to the speakers and the service team for a wonderful, spirit-filled weekend. May God be praised!
